ABOUT US

Who we are

Engineers in Action is a Non-Profit Organization building sustainable rural infrastructure led by local expertise powered by global partners.

We work with underserved communities and global partners to execute sustainable engineering projects that build local capacity and improve access to essential resources.

Mission

We envision a world where isolation, history, and geography do not dictate access to the essential infrastructure that enables health, education, safety, and basic human dignity for all.

Vision

Our Programs

Bridges

Isolation caused by impassable rivers is a root source of poverty all over the world. We build footbridges with isolated communities to ensure year-round, safe access to education, healthcare, and employment.

WASH

Billions of people, mostly in rural areas, still lack access to clean drinking water and sanitation. EIA builds the critical infrastructure that prevents death, unlocks economic productivity, and changes lives.

“Without a doubt, my personal experience in constructing footbridges from a senior leadership position is a complete re-engagement with the field that has helped me to get in touch with that effort and reminded me of why I entered the industry, which is an incredible re-awakening that has helped me perform better in my current role.”

How We Work

  • CHANGING LIVES, ONE PROJECT AT A TIME

Each year, EIA improves the lives of over 20,000 people by helping them build critical infrastructure in their communities. Success starts with the way we do our work, which maximizes the impact of the time, expertise, and dollars that are invested.

  • LOCAL EXPERTISE

Talented local staff build trust and a strong sense of shared investment by understanding each community’s history, culture and strengths, and by speaking the local indigenous languages.

  • LASTING CHANGE

Empowering a community for the long-term takes more than just bricks and mortar. We help communities set up strong oversight and management practices and train members to maintain and safely operate their infrastructure.
