Mankantimane Project

The community and children going to schools across the Mhlathuzane River will have an easier and safer crossing to the river. Income generating projects will be at an advantage as more people will access their business especially the cooperatives that sell vegetables. The project will assist the local community to reach schools (Luhlanyeni primary & High school is on the RHS), clinic, churches, agricultural fields, shopping center, (approx. 2km from the proposed crossing). The bridge will also connect the community to the nearest bus station to board buses to different destinations.

The project will also reduce the danger of the local community from falling and injuring themselves.

This community is located at Dvokolwako and Zandondo under Mkhiweni and Madlangamphisi constituency under Dvokolwako and Zandondo Royal Kraal in the Hhohho and Manzini region connecting. The community is presently having a problem crossing the Black Mbuluzi River. The suspended footbridge will enable the local community to cross the river, reducing the number of people who drown during rainy days when the volume of the water has increased. A majority of the local community is not formally employed. People cross to access schools, a clinic, Inkhundla, Markets and Umphakatsi. 

IMPACT

The crossing spot is mostly utilized by the school going children who attend school at Dvokolwako primary and High, Black Mbuluzi Nazarene, and Methodist primary then clinic. Some children will cross to the bus station and connect buses to other schools outside the community. The current crossing poses danger to the lives of the children exposing them to injury. The local leadership is fully behind the project and promised to encourage the local community to contribute towards establishing a maintenance fund.
