Florentina, better known in the field as Flor, is one of EIA’s on-site cooks and the wife of mason Crecencio Vega. Flor has been cooking for the program for over a year, where she’s bonded with student and professional teams over cooking, learning how to cook some American dishes while teaching volunteers about Bolivian cuisine through exposure to traditional rural Bolivian dishes. In years past Flor served as a cook for Bridges to Prosperity, while her husband Crecencio worked as a mason for the organization. She’s from Chuquisaca, Bolivia but now lives in Cochabamba. She and Crecencio have three children, the smallest of which, also named Flor, is a frequent project presence and fan favorite of volunteer teams.
