I've completed over 30 of Colorado's 58 peaks above 14,000' ("14ers") in the first year of living here, so I'm on pace to finish in two years (it takes most serious hikers 5-6 years).

I've been a Taylor Swift fan (a.k.a. "Swiftie") since 2007, way before it was cool (especially for a grown man)

In my twenties, I carved dozens of intricate designs into my beard (including the word "Fearless" when I attended Taylor Swift's tour by the same name) and could have very well been the most prolific beard artist in the world.

Ethan’s passion for connecting communities through engineering began with a bridge, not just any bridge, but one in a rural Guatemalan community. Witnessing its impact sparked a lifelong commitment to international development engineering. Fueled by this experience, he earned his structural engineering degree from the University of Iowa, interning at a small Virginia firm and gaining hands-on experience.

Back at Iowa, Ethan led the Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) student chapter, orchestrating the construction of two Nicaraguan pedestrian bridges. He then returned to JZ Engineering while simultaneously coordinating the B2P University Program. When EIA acquired this program in 2018, Ethan embraced the opportunity, becoming the EIA Bridge Program Director full-time.

Ethan's dedication extends beyond coordinating bridge projects. He cultivates a vibrant network of student chapters and fosters meaningful partnerships, ensuring lasting impact. His technical expertise and understanding of community needs fuel innovative and sustainable bridge designs that empower remote communities.

But Ethan's life isn't all bridges and calculations. He enjoys pushing his limits with basketball, biking, hiking, and even cliff jumping! An avid reader and music lover (with a soft spot for Taylor Swift), he cherishes spending time with loved ones.

Ethan is a builder, leader, and adventurer, his heart set on bridging global divides, one community, and one bridge at a time.

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”
