Carlos Valdez was born in La Paz, Bolivia. He became a Civil Engineer in 2006 after graduating from Universidad Católica Boliviana

“San Pablo”. He finished his undergraduate degree with a thesis related to remediation for drainage acidic mine water of abandoned mines, he has been passionate ever since about focusing his studies on water-related fields. In 2013, he finished his master’s degree at the University of Valladolid in Spain in “Environmental Management and Technology” where he was introduced to technologies focused on solving not only water-related problems, but also air and soil. 

After he finished his studies, he started working in different organizations ranging from governmental to private sector to universities to nonprofit organizations.

His experience working with NGOs and municipalities inspired him to focus his career on working with people that lacked access to basic infrastructure.  

Carlos joined FIEA in 2015 as a project manager and in 2016 was promoted to Director of Operations. He developed a structure of programs targeting the different problems of our partner communities, he also led the development of a new tool to evaluate and choose new communities to work with.  

Carlos is a keen wallyball player and in his spare time, he enjoys swimming and watching anime series.
